How to play
Both games follow standard rules. Where a choice had to be made, the house rule is stated plainly below.
Yahtzee
01 / ROLL
Thirteen rounds. Each round you roll five dice up to three times, then commit the result to exactly one scoring box. Once a box is filled it stays filled — including a box you fill with a zero.
A round, step by step
- Roll all five dice.
- Hold any dice you want to keep.
- Roll again — only the dice you did not hold are rerolled.
- You may roll a third and final time.
- Choose one unused box. Its value is committed and the round ends.
Upper section
Each upper box scores the sum of the dice showing that face. Score 63 or more across the six upper boxes and you earn a 35 point bonus.
- Ones through Sixes
- Sum of the dice matching that face.
- Upper bonus
- +35 when the six upper boxes total 63 or more.
Lower section
- Three of a Kind
- Sum of all five dice, if at least three match. Otherwise 0.
- Four of a Kind
- Sum of all five dice, if at least four match. Otherwise 0.
- Full House
- 25 for three of one face and two of another. Otherwise 0.
- Small Straight
- 30 for four sequential faces.
- Large Straight
- 40 for five sequential faces.
- Yahtzee
- 50 for all five dice matching.
- Chance
- Sum of all five dice, always.
Extra Yahtzees and the Joker rule
Roll a second Yahtzee while your Yahtzee box already holds 50 and you score an extra 100 points. If you filled the Yahtzee box with a zero, no further bonus is available.
- With the Yahtzee box already filled, you must use the matching upper box if it is still open.
- If that upper box is taken, any open lower box may be used, and Full House, Small Straight and Large Straight pay their full value.
- If the whole lower section is taken, you must place a zero in an open upper box.
